A kindly priest sent to save a financially ailing church turns the boys into a choir & writes them a hit song. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 02/06/2007 Starring: Bing Crosby Rise Stevens Run time: 126 minutes Rating: Nr
This irresistible Oscar winner from writer-director Leo McCarey (
An Affair to Remember) stars Bing Crosby as a low-key, crooning priest who joins the parish of a no-nonsense but sweet old Irish man of the cloth (Barry Fitzgerald). While Bing turns local toughs into a choir, the elder priest worries over the church building fund and whether he'll get a chance to see his old mother back in Ireland before she dies. One would have to have a heart of stone not to be won over by this charmer, with a lovely ending guaranteed to make you bawl for a week.

| I can't say anymore about this Classic Great then has been said in the last 60 years! It holds up after all this time. Sit back, eat your popcorn and let Bing sing you back to a time when people cared about each other and "Oh, I'll get bye" had such a negative meaning! And of course, who did not get misty eyed at the end? Buy this now and add it to your collection! |
